I’ve been a customer of Avahost for over three years, with very few hiccups.
Two days ago, they shut me down – a primary domain and two additional domains I use for business, mainly email.
There was NO warning, nothing. I am paid up, in full.
I tried contacting Avahost through email, their silly online chat (which appears to be online, but isn’t), their online form, and finally their job ticket system (which is sort of buried.)
I received the usual automated response, then a response from someone named “Alisha” that she was looking into the problem.
An hour later, I received another email from “Alisha” that she was sending it to her admin.
An hour passed, with no response.
So I emailed Alisha and her admin (sales email address), asking for fast resolution.
Four hours later, I received an email from “Max” with a ONE WORD answer: “SPAM”, and an attached example of said “spam.”
The “spam” in question was from my wife’s email address – or appeared to be so.
I checked out her computer, and someone certainly is sending out spam email with her email in the “from” field, but with random other names in the name field.
I looked over a few of the return emails, and determined they could not be from her machine – her laptop has been turned OFF for three days, and there were emails sent during that time.
So, the email was obviously stolen and spoofed – probably from one of her friends’ infected computers.
This is not something we, the end users, can help, but golly-gee if Avahost had CONTACTED ME about it, it is something we might have been able to help RESOLVE!!!
Instead, they switched off all service for me, a paying customer.
They have my money, and I have no service.
To me, this makes them THIEVES.
Stay away from them. They’re either incompetent, shady, or both.
Switching services, right now.
